Synopsis

In this action-packed sequel to Alien, Siguorney Weaver returns as Ripley, the only survivor from mankind’s first encounter with the monstrous Alien. Her account of the Alien and the fate of her crew are received with skepticism - until the mysterious disappearance of colonists on LV-426 lead her to join a team of high-tech colonial marines sent in to investigate.

Personally supervised by director James Cameron, this special edition includes scenes eliminated prior to the film’s 1986 release which broaden the narrative scope and enrich the emotional impact of the film.

Reviews

Rick Kogan Chicago Tribune | October 14, 2014

Scene to scene, encounter to encounter, its tension builds unrelentingly. So, fasten your seat belts. It`s a blast.

Desmond Ryan Philadelphia Inquirer | July 30, 2013

[Aliens] is a spectacular example of state-of-the-art science fiction simply because it never tries to be overtly spectacular.

Sheila Benson Los Angeles Times | July 30, 2013

It's blaster action, not Gothic future-horror. Fortunately, director-screenwriter James Cameron has shaped his film around the defiant intelligence and sensual athleticism of Weaver, and that's where Aliens works best.

Jay Boyar Orlando Sentinel | July 30, 2013

This film is also the best monster movie of the year and the best picture of any kind to open so far this summer. Put it another way: Aliens is the Jaws of the '80s.

Anthony Lane New Yorker | July 30, 2013

Action thrillers assail but rarely test us; this is the tautest, most provoking, and altogether most draining example ever made.

Richard Schickel TIME Magazine | October 19, 2008

The trouble Ripley has found this time is exponentially bigger and scarier than anything she encountered in Ridley Scott's memorably minimalist, eerily elegant 1979 film.

Dave Kehr Chicago Reader | September 24, 2007

One sequel that surpasses the original.
