Synopsis

One of the best-loved holiday stories of all time is back in this animated musical version of Charles Dickens' most famous tale. An all-star voice lineup features the talents of Whoopi Goldberg, Ed Asner, Michael York, and Tim Curry as Scrooge. Come share the joy as cold-hearted Ebenezer Scrooge, the man who "bah-humbugged" his way through Christmas, discovers the true holiday spirit after he's visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. With original music and eight new songs, this uplifting, animated tale is destined to become a new holiday classic.

Reviews

James Berardinelli ReelViews | November 10, 2009

The motion capture animation is top-notch and it's hard not to be impressed with what Robert Zemeckis has wrought, even if there's the occasional sense he's pandering to an audience that can't get through a 90 minute story without a few yuks and a chase.

Dana Stevens Slate | November 06, 2009

How they made it into this Disney adaptation unprettified is a Christmas miracle in itself.

Amy Biancolli San Francisco Chronicle | November 06, 2009

Zemeckis' film preserves much of Dickens' original dialogue and detail while amplifying the utter ethereal strangeness of the ghosts.

Rick Groen Globe and Mail | November 06, 2009

There's a lot of dark magic in this Dickensian Yuletide.

Lisa Kennedy Denver Post | November 06, 2009

Does this entertainment achieve a timelessness beyond its exquisite source material? Not even. Yet there's pleasure to be had and relief in feeling the filmmakers didn't Scrooge it up either.

Mary F. Pols MSN Movies | November 06, 2009

The movie may be yet another retelling of an iconic story, but visually it is often quite breathtaking.

A.O. Scott New York Times | November 06, 2009

A branded piece of shiny seasonal entertainment.
