Synopsis

Immortals explodes off the screen with action-packed battles, mythological adventure and an all-star cast. In this epic tale of vengeance and destiny, power-mad King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) threatens to destroy all of humanity on his maniacal quest to obtain the ultimate weapon – the legendary Epirus Bow that gives the power to unleash war on both Heaven and Earth. But Theseus (Henry Cavill), a heroic young villager chosen by the gods, rises up to stop Hyperion's brutal rampage. With supernatural help from the beautiful oracle Phaedra (Freida Pinto), Theseus embraces his destiny and leads a fierce band of warriors in a desperate fight for the future of mankind.

Reviews

Adam Markovitz Entertainment Weekly | November 18, 2011

Without any narrative heft, these sights don't last in the mind much longer than they linger on screen. And yet they thrill in short-lived bursts that Singh doles out carefully, keeping pace with the audience's appetite.

James Berardinelli ReelViews | November 13, 2011

The same hyperstylized, comic book-come-to-life approach that created an invigorating experience for viewers of 300 elevates Immortals above the level of a Clash of the Titans knock-off.

Rick Groen Globe and Mail | November 11, 2011

Solid yet hardly sensational, no luxury sedan but a good compact -- fairly efficient in its operation, typically clean in look, and guaranteed to reach its destination with a minimum of fuss.

William Goss Film.com | November 11, 2011

Puffed-up style worthy of trumped-up lore.

Peter Debruge Variety | November 10, 2011

Logic melts away completely and the pic's raison d'etre emerges -- namely, to justify staging a fight scene for the ages.

Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News | November 10, 2011

With "Immortals," Singh finally acknowledges that he's making movies, rather than just beautiful moving pictures.
