Synopsis

In this heart-pounding survival thriller based on the best-selling novel, Thomas (Dylan O’Brien of MTV’s Teen Wolf) wakes up trapped in a massive, ever-changing maze with a group of boys who have no memory of the outside world. Facing dangerous obstacles at every turn — especially the deadly Grievers that roam the concrete corridors at night — Thomas and the others must race to piece together clues in order to discover their true purpose… and find a way out before it’s too late!

Reviews

Cath Clarke Time Out | October 07, 2014

Teenagers are getting it in the neck again, in the latest dystopian Young Adult literary sensation to get the Hollywood treatment.

Bruce Diones New Yorker | October 06, 2014

It's all familiar territory, but it's realized with flair.

Chris Nashawaty Entertainment Weekly | September 19, 2014

Having not read the book, I was hoping for a more satisfying payoff than the one I got. Then again, maybe the filmmakers are saving the answers for the sequel.

Ethan Gilsdorf Boston Globe | September 18, 2014

Teens should eat up this fantasy's scenery-chewing angst and doom, and the hopeful tale of survival and empowerment (to be continued in the inevitable sequel or sequels).

Bill Zwecker Chicago Sun-Times | September 18, 2014

A well-acted and intelligent thriller/futuristic sci-fi romp.

Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News | September 18, 2014

Director Wes Ball and his outstanding young cast work unusually hard to counter the derivative feel.

Ben Kenigsberg New York Times | September 18, 2014

By keeping its cards so close, "The Maze Runner" remains compelling.
